What is “Christmas is Canmore”?
The Christmas in Canmore Campaign is a celebration of local shopping and businesses in Canmore, targeted at local residents to buy local mid-week and our visitors to choose Canmore as their destination on weekends. Canmore has the reputation as an award-winning dining destination, world-class event location, and hub for culture and creativity. Canmore has become a shopping destination known for its authentic local purveyors and independent business owners. Canmore is the place to recharge, reconnect and become inspired by all the community has to offer, this holiday season.
The Buy local Poster is a fill-in-the-blank poster for businesses. Each business will write their business name in the star (at the top of the Christmas Tree) and all the local business names that are associated with their business in the Christmas tree ornaments. This is a way of showing customers and community members, they are not only supporting one business but many other local Bow Valley businesses, as well.
Along with the Chirstmas in Canmore campaign is a Shop Local Canmore Contest. Shoppers/locals/visitors must shop Downtown Canmore, whether it be Christmas shopping, grabbing a coffee from a local cafe, having lunch with friends, etc. They will then scan the QR code to enter the contest and keep a copy of their Christmas shopping receipt to be entered to win. Winners are chosen on January 6th for the Christmas Campaign. This is a great way for people to get involved and share their love for Canmore.
Carmella Consulting partnered up with the BIA to emphasize Christmas in Canmore and the importance of shopping local. Through group collaboration, and brainstorming the Christmas is Canmore/ Shop Local campaign was created! Carmella managed the campaign, by printing and distributing posters and rack cards, advertising on social media, creating blog posts as well as landing pages, and coordinating the Christmas is Canmore contest. It was a great campaign, that brought local businesses together, encouraged locals and tourists alike to shop in Canmore, and most of all, spread some Christmas cheer!
